Post Happily Ever After

“Unless it's mad, passionate, extraordinary love, it's a waste of your time. There are too many mediocre things in life. Love shouldn't be one of them,” these were the most beautiful words she had ever read.
Like every other girl she grew up reading and watching fairytales, she was naive enough to believe that someday her prince will sweep her off her feet.

Such high standards to the whole idea of LOVE that she just couldn't do mediocre, but the strangest part was nobody ever made her feel extraordinary. She kept waiting for the correct one to come along, but he never did. She just met the wrong ones.
She wanted mad love, extreme feelings. Love was such a small word, with such high standards.

One fine day, She thought she met the one. Finally, she felt the extremeness of love.
He made her heart skip a beat. He brought her flowers and he did everything he could to make her feel extraordinary. She was living the fairytale, but it's the law of nature, nothing lasts forever.
Since no fairytale ever spoke about what happens post happily ever after, she didn't know reality.  But reality and happily-ever-after were two different sides of the same coin, her coin flipped and reality was also an extreme emotion but this time on the wrong side of extreme.
The nicest of the hearts can be the coldest ones. Right there her fairytale was over.

Her heart never skipped a beat after that, butterflies are just insects for her.
This time he didn't make her heart skip a beat, he didn't buy her flowers, he did things but not extraordinary things unlike the past but it was better than a fairytale because this time love didn't have to live up to any standards.
Like others they fought, they made each other feel horrible. Love wasn't the only emotion they felt; there was lust, hate, anger & resentment. They were no Romeo & Juliet, they were mediocre just like the rest.
It wasn't mad love, it was plain, but it was still extraordinary.
